Frances M. Granger

Obituary
Frances M. Granger passed away September 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.  Fran was born on January 19, 1954 in Springfield, MA.  She was the fourth of eight children born to the late Stephen and Annie (Vershon) Granger.  She was raised in West Springfield and graduated from West Springfield High School in 1971.  After graduation, she studied at Springfield Technical Community College while working in human services.  During this time period Fran also lived in Arizona for one year and when she returned to Springfield, she was married and her son John Charles Wellman was born in 1977.  In addition to John, she gave birth to two other children that died after birth.  She continued to work while raising her son.  She was active in the community and helped out in many youth activities, such as scouting, Special Olympics and enjoyed engaging in varied activities with her friends and her son.  She leaves her son, John Charles Wellman of West Springfield, as well as several siblings and many nieces and nephews.  She would like to thank the many people who helped her get through this trying time.  She also would like to thank Bill W. and many of his supporters.  The calling hours will be on Friday from 4 – 6 pm followed by a funeral home service at 6 pm at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield.  There will be a private burial at a later date.
