Obituary
Gabrielle "Gabby" Dufresne – 56, and a lifelong resident of West Springfield, passed away unexpectedly January 22, 2018. Born on December 31,1961, and predeceased by parents Walter and Judith, Gabby leaves 5 siblings, Maggie Dufresne-Amatori (Franco Amatori), Trey (Karen Balogh), Christopher (Clare), Lydia Lockwood (Jeff) and Jamie, nephews Justin Lockwood and Emanuele Amatori, nieces Stephanie and Alison Dufresne, her best friend Laura Fitzell, and many close friends and cousins. A 1980 graduate of West Springfield High School, Gabby earned an associate’s degree from HCC, and was awarded a BS in Social Work from Elms College. She was a medical transcriptionist for many years at Providence Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Holyoke Medical Center, and on the Clinical Assessment staff at Providence Behavioral Hospital. Gabby was an active parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church during her lifetime, and her faith was of the utmost importance to her. She volunteered at the West Springfield Senior Center, and for the Pro-Life Movement in Western Massachusetts. Gabby had a beautiful singing voice and loved music, spending time with friends, eating out, and doing word puzzles. Her loss will be deeply felt by family and friends. We know she is at peace, and happy to be reunited in Heaven with our Mom and Dad. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Church in West Springfield on Wednesday, February 21 at 10 am. Burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethlehem House, Inc. PO Box 1393, Easthampton, MA 01027, or Pro-Life of Pioneer Valley, 472 Appleton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
