Gail Stone

September 8, 1937 — December 5, 2025

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gail Stone, who left this world peacefully at home, surrounded by the comfort of her family. Gail was predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond Stone Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Born to Ames Harry Slate and Helene Trombley Slate, Gail grew up in a large, loving family that shaped her lifelong values of warmth, loyalty, and connection. Gail was the proud and devoted mother of Linda Longhi (husband Peter, Bill Stone (wife Sharon), Laurie Yacteen (husband Al), Bob Stone (wife Sue), and Donna LaRochelle (husband Chris). She is reunited in heaven with her beloved son, Raymond Stone III, whom she missed so deeply. Her legacy continues through her 16 grandchildren, each of whom she treasured: Joe Yacteen; Taryn Visconti (husband Nick); Ashley Stone (significant other Chris); Jordan Marino (husband Mike); Pete Longhi (wife Leanna); Shaye Roberts (husband Ben); Mia Yacteen; Carly Kerr (husband Pat); Lauren Poskanzer; Zach Yacteen (wife Samantha); Taylor Stone (fiancé Jenna); Jenna Stone; Rae LaRochelle (fiancé Quinn); Aliyia Yacteen; Jack LaRochelle (significant other Sarah); and Tatum LaRochelle. Gail was also a devoted great-grandmother to 17 little ones who filled her heart with joy. Family meant everything to her, and the bond she shared with her brothers and sisters was a source of strength, laughter, and love throughout her life. Gail was one of nine siblings and cherished each relationship deeply. She is survived by Ralph and his wife Virginia, her sisters-in-law Carol Slate and Joyce Slate, and her siblings Gary and Judy McKay. She was predeceased by siblings Ames, Bobby, Roger, and Linda, as well as her second husband, Fred Lattanzio. Gail lived joyfully, fully, and generously. She adored bright colors and flowers, a perfect reflection of the vibrancy she brought wherever she went. She loved golfing, tennis, and skiing with family and friends, traveling the world, and making memories with the cherished “Sesame Seed group.” She especially looked forward to the annual tradition of the Big E dollar tent, a place that always made her smile. Above all, Gail’s life was defined by kindness. She was always willing to lend a hand, offer support, or brighten someone’s day. Her generous spirit touched countless lives, and her legacy of warmth, compassion, and love will forever live on in all who knew her. Gail will be profoundly missed, but her light continues to shine in the family she raised, the friendships she built, and the many lives she uplifted. May her memory be a blessing, and may her spirit live forever in our hearts. Gail’s funeral service will be held Saturday December 13, 2025, at 11AM from the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield with burial to follow in Agawam Center Cemetery. Calling hours are from 9-11AM.
