Gary W Sherlaw

Gary W. Sherlaw, 82, died peacefully on Saturday January 13, 2024, with his wife Jean by his side. Gary was born in Westfield on November 11, 1941, to the late Lawrence V. and Marion (Peabody) Sherlaw. He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence A. Sherlaw and his sister in law, Karen (Connie) Sherlaw. Gary will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend of 59 years, Jean (Schiavina) Sherlaw, his daughters, Kristin Sherlaw and Kimberly Sherlaw, his sister, Carolyn (Sherlaw) Lau, niece, Pamela (Sherlaw) Keavney, and his dog Coco. He also leaves his sisters in law, Shirley Bernarducci and Ron, Pauline Montelone, Debra Jordan and Dave and Fran Mackintosh and Roy and many nieces and nephews. Gary grew up in Feeding Hills and graduated from Agawam High School in 1959. He received his B.S. Environmental Health Degree from the University of Mass. in 1964 and a M.P.H. Degree from the University of Michigan in 1969. Gary was employed by NSF International in Ann Arbor, Michigan for 28 years working his way up to Vice President of International Operations. Upon retiring to Florida in 1999, he started a consulting business (Food Safety Consulting International) providing domestic and international consulting, auditing, and training services until he became ill in 2018 then moved to Massachusetts and resided in West Springfield. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Reba’s Animal Rescue Adoption Center 1646 S. Military Highway Chesapeake, VA. 23320 for Gary’s lifetime support of all the furry animals that came into his life.
