Greenfield-Gene P. Bressette passed away February 13th at home in Greenfield, Massachusetts. He was born to Leo and Gertrude (Holden) Bressette on May 15, 1947. Gene lived most of his life in West Springfield where he attended school. After school, he served our country proudly during Vietnam on multiple tours while with the Army Combat Engineers. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. Gene worked over 40 years on the railroad as a freight conductor. The railroads were New York Central, Penn Central, Conrail, CSXT and Norfolk Southern. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Gene had a passion for playing the guitar, singing karaoke and making people laugh. He loved talking politics and being a safety officer on the railroad as well with the VFW. Gene was proud of being a twin and having two sets of twins of his own. He leaves behind his five daughters, Tanya (Scott Caney) Bressette of Holyoke and her twin Tara Bressette of Springfield, Christine Twarowski of Chicopee and her twin Crystal Bressette of Bloomfield CT, and Heather Knierim of NJ. He was a grandfather of six. He will be missed by his nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his five siblings where they will reunite. A wake is scheduled for 4 PM to 6 PM February 25 at TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St., W. Springfield, with a funeral service at 6 PM. A committal service is scheduled at 9am on March 3 at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, Massachusetts.
