West Springfield - Rev. George David Condon, Jr., 88, passed away Tuesday at Sudbury Pines in Sudbury, MA. He was born in Canaan, CT on March 28th, 1928 to the late Addie (Kimball) and George D. Condon, Sr. He was a graduate of Yankton College, Yankton, SD, Gordon Seminary and Andover Newton Theological Seminary, both in Massachusetts. He was ordained at Mittineague Congregational Church in West Springfield where he served as an associate minister. He was proud of participating in the civil rights March on Washington DC in August of 1963, where he heard Dr. Martin Luther King Jr�s speech �I Have a Dream.� In 1988 he walked from Los Angeles, CA to Washington, DC on The Great Peace March. He was an advocate for civil rights and world peace throughout his life. He was predeceased by his brother Eben, and his first wife, Joan Crosby Chrzanowski. He leaves behind his former wife, Janet Zeller and her four daughters. He was the father of Mrs. Jean (Condon) Mitchell of Hartford, CT, Gerald Condon of Port Richey, FL, Judy (Condon) Moreira and husband Richard of Weare, NH and George D. Condon, III and wife Irina of West Springfield. He was the grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 9. There will be a private Committal Service at Hillside Cemetery in East Canaan, CT at the convenience of the family. Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
