George went home to his Lord and Savior on Aug 28 at Bay State Medical Center His wife Carol (Lawrence) was at his bed side, they were as always hand in hand, side by side to the end. Born George Robert Goulet June 13, 1948, in Holyoke Ma, to Lauria L Goulet and Edna (Kleeberg) Goulet. He lived in Holyoke and Southampton before moving to West Springfield 26 years ago. After a brief stint with Savage Arms, he then worked for 43 years at Valley Machine Knife in West Springfield. An Active member of Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield, where he was known as the coffee guy always arriving 2 hours before service to make sure the coffee was ready before church as well as after. He was a member of the West Springfield Interfaith Parish Association. He really enjoyed servicing lunches at the Parish cupboard food pantry. He was always at the Agawam/West Springfield CROP Walk even after he could no longer walk, he helped with the registration table. His love for growing was evident in his “orchard” along with many varieties apple trees he had plumbs and nectarines along with walnuts and chestnuts. Twelve blueberries and black raspberries filled one end of yard, but his 4 Beach Plumb bushes were his favorite and he loved making jam with them, enough to last the year. He was predeceased by his brothers Walter and Louie as well as his sister Shirly. Besides his beloved wife, Carol he leaves three adult children, Matt, Cathy and Andy as well as their children as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday September 5 at 11AM at the Grace Lutheran Church 1552 Westfield St West Springfield. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
