West Springfield- Gerald �Doc� Michael Keavany, 85, of Rogers Avenue passed away Thursday at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on February 28th, 1930 to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Phelan) Keavany. He was raised in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and settled in West Springfield in 1968. For the last 20 yrs. he was a resident of Boynton Beach, FL. Gerry was a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for 40 years. Much of that time he worked for Bristol Labs and Glaxo. He received his B.A. from A.I.C. and later earned his Master�s Degree in Education from Springfield College. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Gerry was a longtime member of the John Boyle O�Reilly Club, the West Springfield Elks Lodge, and the West Springfield Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight. He was a recipient of the St. Joseph Medal from the former Cathedral High School. He was very active in West Springfield town politics and he served on the Board of Accessors for over 10 yrs. He was awarded �Democrat of the Century� by the West Spfld. Democratic Town Committee. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeline (Brennan) Keavany, loving father of Michael Keavany and his wife Linda of Boston, Gerald Keavany of Longmeadow, and James Keavany and his wife Donna of Southwick, devoted grandfather of Conor, Kevin, Erin, and Ryanne, great grandfather of Ryland and the late Cameron, caring brother of the late Donald Keavany, brother-in-law of Therese Keavany of Longmeadow, and uncle of William, Donald, Kristin, and Luke. He leaves his caring companion Donna Popp. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7 PM at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Funeral Mass 10 AM Tuesday at St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine Street, West Spfld. Burial will follow at St. Michael�s Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers donations in Gerry�s name may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
