West Springfield- Gerald Joseph Scully, 74, passed away Tuesday at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Springfield on December 21st, 1941 to the late Walter and Bertha Scully. He grew up in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School and lived most of his life in West Springfield. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and then attended Westfield University. He worked as an engineer in architectural hardware for Steeltec of CT. He was the loving husband of Mary C. (Devine) Scully, beloved father of Katherine M. Scully of New York City, Debra A. Scully-Wagner and her husband Keith of Princeton, NJ, Raymond J. Scully and his fianc�Tracey Cobb of Simsbury, CT, Susan M. Gleason and her husband Thomas of Granby, CT, and Marc Scully of Maine. Grampa Jerry was adored by his grandchildren, Jacob Wagner, Tanner Gleason, Matthew Gleason, Maxxwel Scully, and Dylan Cobb. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Jerry's interests were varied and included acting in community theater, antiquing, politics, playing cards with friends and he was an avid history buff. For 45 years he was a loyal blood donor. He will be missed at Little George�s restaurant where he had breakfast each morning. Jerry will be remembered for his gregarious nature and the way he warmly welcomed others into his life. All funeral services are private, Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home will be handling all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jambo Tanzania, a nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated to providing health and educational services to the citizens of Tanzania at www.jambotansania.us or PO Box 2673, Springfield, MA 01101.
