Geraldine M. (Grady) Johnson, passed away on October 5, 2015 in Dover, New Hampshire after an extended period of failing health. Born on September 3, 1924 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Helen (McLaughlin) and George Grady, Jerry spent her youth in West Springfield, graduating from Springfield�s Cathedral High School in 1942. She married William R. Johnson in 1947, and they resided on Dewey Street in West Springfield for 58 years before relocating to Kittery, Maine in 2005. She proudly served as a member of the U.S. Women Marines during World War II. Jerry was employed by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and served as a switchboard operator for several Springfield area institutions, including West Springfield High School and Shawmut Bank. She was a member of the American Legion Post 207, the Peg Parda Chapter of the Women Marines Association, and was a long-time parishioner at the former Immaculate Conception Church in W. Spfld. Jerry leaves two daughters, Maryann Minard and her husband Michael of South Berwick, ME; and Ellen Coburn and her husband John of Newburyport, MA. She also leaves three grandchildren, Glendon Coburn and his wife Therese of Manchester, NH; Evan Coburn of Amesbury, MA; and Megan Minard of Charlotte, NC; and a great-grandson, Reed Coburn. Jerry is survived by two brothers, Robert Grady of Springfield, and Richard Grady of Glenmont, NY; and her sister, Helen (Grady) McCallen of Troy, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William R. Johnson; her parents; and her siblings George �Brud� Grady, Patricia (Grady) Rivet, Barbara (Grady) Gernon, Walter Grady, James Grady, and Daniel Grady. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care and kindness that Jerry received from the administrators, nurses and staff at Watson Fields Assisted Living over the past three years. The funeral will be Wednesday, 9AM from the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., W. Spfld., followed by an 10AM Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church, 495 Main St., W. Spfld. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts� Veteran�s Cemetery in Agawam.
