Obituary
Gerard R. Tessier, 84, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 12th at Mt. St. Vincent Nursing Home. Son of the late Romulus and Adeline Tessier, Gerry and his seven siblings grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts. Because of his love for animals Gerry opened the Dog Factory in West Springfield where he was a dog groomer for over 30 years and was a communicant of St. Thomas Church. He was a devoted husband, father, loving grandfather and great grandfather. God and his family were everything to him. He was a man who never complained and always wanted to make others happy by singing a song, telling a joke or giving a compliment. He was a loyal Red Sox fan and always loved to watch his grandchildren’s sporting events. During his younger years, Gerry was a professional boxer and boxed at the Valley Arena in Holyoke and in the Boston Garden. He enjoyed the simple things in life like mowing the lawn on a hot summer day, a good meal and a nice cup of coffee. His legacy will live on in his family forever. He leaves the love of his life and best friend Josephine (Gruneiro) Tessier, they married on January 26, 1963 and enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. He also leaves his daughter Lisa Lubanski and her husband Joseph of Westfield, his son Gerard and his wife Patricia of Wethersfield, CT: his grandchildren Alessandra, Joey, Gerard, Savannah and Ariana; his great granddaughter Liana. He was predeceased by his brothers George, Urbain and Andre Tessier; sister’s Jeanne Tessier, Lucia Rheault, Anita Bechard and Florence Pellegrino. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452 or to the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942. All Services will be private at this time. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME IS HANDLING THE ARRANGEMENTS.
