Gloria Isabelle (Sarnacki) Liska, 83, passed away Saturday at New London Rehab & Care of Waterford in Waterford, CT. She was born in Springfield on March 31, 1940 to the late Wanda (Czerniak) and Thomas Sarnacki. She grew up and spent most of her life in West Springfield before moving to CT in 2001. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 50 years. She worked at Baystate Medical Center, Mt. Saint Vincent nursing Home in Holyoke, and at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. She was formerly a communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield and taught C.C.D. there for over 30 years. She later belonged to the Ladies Club at St. Mathias Church in East Lyme, CT. Gloria also taught CPR at the American Red Cross for years. She was the beloved widow of James M. Liska who passed away in 1972, loving mother of Jim Liska and his wife Renee of East Lyme, CT and Billy Liska and his wife Hana of Casper, WY, caring sister of Louise Keeler of Springfield, Betty Rulnick and her husband Dick of Springfield, Robert Sarnacki and his wife Jean of West Springfield, and the late Tommy and Edward Sarnacki, devoted grandmother of Evan and Nolan Liska, and MaryAlice, Eliza, Billy Joshua, Bradley, Valerie, Benjamin, and Jeremy Liska, and she leaves several cherished nieces and nephews. The calling hours will be Wednesday 5-7 pm at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. The funeral will be Thursday 11 am at the funeral home followed by a 12 noon Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flower donations in Gloria’s name may be made to the St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield.
