Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Harvey H. Smith, announce his passing on March 18, 2019. Harvey was born on May 22, 1940 in Wallasey, England and moved with his parents, the late Leslie and Edna Smith, to Dayton, Ohio when he was 12 years old. After graduating high school, he was trained as a printer and worked the printing press for Standard Register in Dayton. A new career opportunity in restaurant management brought Harvey and his family to Agawam, Massachusetts where he spent the next 20 years as district manager for Ponderosa and IHOP restaurants. He then took an opportunity to own an IHOP franchise in Southern Florida and lived and retired in Davie, Florida, where he enjoyed the next 30 years in the sunshine. Harvey enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, and playing golf. He recently returned to Massachusetts with his faithful dog, Reggie, to his son’s home and final resting place in West Springfield. He passed peacefully surrounded by family after a brave battle with lung cancer. He leaves 3 loving children: Paige Smith of North Brookfield, MA, Brian H. Smith and wife Jaime, and 4 loving grandchildren Ian, Hailey, Payton and Amelia of West Springfield, MA, Ericka Rayment and husband Neil, and 2 loving grandchildren Trent and Leannah of Worcester, England. Harvey leaves a loving sister, Lesley McGuigan and husband Curt, two loving nieces Heather Shamp, husband Craig and their children as well as Katie Rice and husband Tim and their children all of Ohio. He also leaves many close friends and neighbors whom have become his extended family in the years he spent in Florida. Harvey will be forever in our hearts. “You’ll never walk alone.” All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUENRAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS.
