Helga Gallant from West Springfield, MA passed away at Baystate Medical with her family by her side on February 17, 2026.

Helga was born January 2, 1933 in Ziegenhal, Krneise Germany to Johannes and Maria Joschko. She sailed on the SS United States from Germany to New York City so she could marry the love of her life, Clayton Gallant on March 2, 1957 in Saco ME. They enjoyed 30 years of marriage together until Clayton's passing on December 2, 1987.

Helga was an amazing seamstress for many years. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, apple picking with her family, going to the casino. She always loved spending time with her family at their gathering, playing beer pong, "she was damn good at it"!

Helga will be sadly missed by her son Eric Gallant and his wife Sharon and her beloved daughter Diana Gallant.

She leaves her grandchildren to cherish all their memories together. Celena Gallant and her boyfriend Dakota Burgess, Jessica and Drew Kowalik, Alexandria and Joshua Howe, Dominic Gallant and fiancée Kacie Smith and Andre' Gallant. Great Grandaughters who she adored Olivia and Avalynn Kowalik.

There will be a 10-11am Wake at Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home on Saturday, February 28 followed by a Funeral Service at 11am then burial at St. Thomas Cemetery.
