West Springfield- Howard Leonard Regan, 82, passed away Friday at Country Estates in Agawam. He was born in Holyoke to the late Jane (Burns) and Maurice Regan. Howard was a graduate of Holyoke High School and has been a resident of West Springfield since 1961. He was a Korean War Veteran serving for eight years in the US Army. Howard worked for many years at the former Hampden Brewery and then was the Director of the West Springfield Housing Authority and the North Attleboro Housing Authority. He was very active in the Town of West Springfield as a former Democratic Town Committee Member and chairman of the Council of Aging for years. Howard was predeceased by his wife, Beverly (Brown) Regan, and his first wife Lois (Twiss) Regan, the mother of his five children. He leaves his four daughters, Barbara Regan of Southwick, Carolyn Regan Taylor of CT, Marybeth Regan of Los Angeles, Patricia Regan of Westfield, and one son, Howard Regan, II of Stafford Springs, his five grandchildren, Amy Howatt, Kelsey Strong, Gabrielle Strong, Derrick Regan and Brianna Regan, and his great-grandchildren, Jackson Howatt and Addison Howatt. He was predeceased by his caring siblings, Lt. Maurice Regan who was killed in action during WWII, John �Jackie� Regan, Ruthanne Monaghan and Elizabeth Cauley. Affectionately referred to as �Poppy� by those who cared for him, Howard will live in in our memories and prayers. There will be a 9AM Funeral Home Service, Wednesday at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St. W. Spfld., followed by a 10AM burial at MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Main St., Agawam. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one�s choice.
