Obituary
Ilene Elizabeth (Storey) Matteson, 92, of Cayenne Street passed away Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in Chicopee on April 26, 1927 to the late Thomas and Eva (Rafay) Storey. Ilene lived most of her life in West Springfield and was a graduate of West Springfield High School. She was a secretary for Dr. Donald Snyder for years and after that she worked for the West Springfield School Department for 16 yrs. She was a longtime communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church in West Springfield. She was the beloved widow of James N. Matteson who passed in 1985, loving mother of Donna Benoit and her husband Francis of West Springfield, William Matteson of Chicopee, David Matteson of West Springfield, Kenneth Matteson of Somers, CT, and Kathleen Beaudette and her husband Jeffrey of Feeding Hills, caring sister of Edith Dutkiewicz, devoted grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 13. There will be a Committal Service Friday 11 am at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations in Ilene’s name may be made to Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105.
