Irene (Hanley) Asta-Ferrero

Agawam- Bernice �Irene� (Hanley) Asta-Ferrero, 101, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Born in Beverly, March 4, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie (Savage) Hanley. Irene grew up in Maine and has lived in this area since 1943. She was a lifetime member of the Agawam Golden Agers and the Agawam Senior Center. Her husband, Mario Asta-Ferrero died in 2007. She leaves her three sons, Duane and his wife Joyce of Agawam, Brian of Westfield and Charles and his wife Frances of West Springfield, her six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. There will be a Funeral Home Service Friday, 11am at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield with burial to follow in Springfield St. Cemetery in Feeding Hills. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Agawam Senior Center, 954 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001 or the MA Commission For the Blind, 600 Washington St., Boston, MA 02111.
