Jacqueline B. (Breton) Pyzik

d. March 22, 2015

Nothing can dim the light that shines from within. Maya Angelo Jacquelines extraordinary life was an altruistic journey of compassion, love and, recently, a thwarted two and a half year battle with cancer. Born in Hartford, CT, to father Odilon Breton and mother Annette (Dutilly) Breton, A graduate of Ware High School, Jacqueline received her cosmetology license from Kay Harvey Hairdressing Academy, and went on to work in Kay Harvey Salon in Holyoke, MA. After starting her cosmetology career, she married John Pyzik at St. Bartholomews church in Bondsville, MA; this year would have marked their forty-sixth wedding anniversary. In 1982, Jacqueline decided upon a career change. Keeping with her philanthropic nature shepursued her LPN certification from the Western Mass Hospital School of Nursing leading her to an OB/GYN practice and later to a Pediatrics practice in West Springfield. From Pediatrics, Jacqueline branched out to Cigna Healthcare working as the Provider Relations Manager, followed by consultant at Value Health Management and finally retiring after two years inBoston as a Statewide Manager for primary care clinicians for Medicaid patients for Massachusetts. In 1996 Jacqueline found her love of water aerobics while working out at Healthtrax. Jacqueline became so good at the routines that, even after retirement, she continued to give back for five years as an instructor. Jacqueline is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Normand Breton. She lived life to the fullest with grace, style, a powerful presence and a vibrant light that will be missed by all those who knew her, especially her husband, John Pyzik, daughter Rebecca Gibbons, son-in-law Kyle Gibbons, her beloved grandson Riley Gibbons and granddaughter Delaney Gibbons, all of West Springfield. She also leaves behind two brothers Raymond Breton of Wilbraham and Dennis Breton of Palmer, sister Simone Coulombe of Florida, along with several nieces and nephews. Jacqueline was passionate about her family time, and positively touched the lives of all those with whom she came in contact. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Those whom she leaves behind are blessed to have known her and to have had her in their lives. Jacqueline had a natural ability to make everyone feel special, important, and loved. Her humor, patience and gentle nature will be remembered by many. Jacquelines family extends special thanks to Dr. Myers, Connie Wahlers, the entire infusion staff at DAmour Cancer Center and Baystate Hospice. There will be a Funeral Home Service Thursday 11am at the TOOMEY-OBRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., W. Spfld., followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7PM.In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the DAmour Cancer Center, 3350 Main Street, Springfield, MA. 01199.
