Agawam - James Edward Barry, 94, of Bridge Street passed away Sunday at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. James was born in Springfield on March 25, 1920 to the late John and Mary (Nelligan) Barry. James worked many years as an Assistant Mortgage Officer at the Springfield 5 Cent Savings Bank. He was also a member of the Oak Ridge Country Club, The Orchards, and former two time Club Champion at Franconia Golf Club. He was a member of the Western Massachusetts Golf Hall of Fame and he proposed the name and was one of the founders of the �Tee Party�. He was a member of the Springfield Lodge of the Elks 61, American Legion of Agawam Post 0185, the VFW West Springfield, and the Knights of Columbus of West Springfield. James was a WWII U. S. Army Veteran. He was involved in the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge with Patton�s 3rd Army at Bastogne. He was also involved in the defense of the Ramagen Bridge. James was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He leaves his beloved wife of 57 years Marguerite M. (Letellier) Barry. He was the caring brother of the late John Barry, William J. Barry, Robert Barry, Alice Barry, and Agnes T. Walsh. He also leaves several devoted nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 9 AM Wed. at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, followed at 10 AM by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church, 63 Pine Street, West Springfield. Burial will follow at the St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Tues. from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in James�s memory can be made to St. Thomas School, 75 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
