West Springfield- James Matthew Conlin, 89, of Wellfleet Drive passed away Wednesday at Mt. Marie in Holyoke. He was born in Boston, spent most of his life in West Springfield and was a graduate of West Springfield High School. He later attended A.I.C. in Springfield. Jim worked in the Marketing Department at Hamilton Standard for over 25 years, retiring in 1990. He was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Church. He was a proud member of the 1952 West Springfield High School State Hockey Championship Team. Jim was one of the founders of the West Springfield St. Parick Parade Committee and was the 2012 Parade Marshall. He served on the West Springfield Board of Appeals. He also loved golf and played in several local leagues throughout the years. Beloved husband of 55 years to Madeline R. (Yesu) Conlin, loving father of Carey Ewing of Port St. Lucie, FL, Katie Calabrese and her husband Joe of East Longmeadow, and Kristin Brymer and husband Chip of Okeechobee, FL, devoted grandfather of Nora and Owen Ewing, Giuseppe Calabrese, and Alexa Brymer, caring brother of Elizabeth Conlin Naughton of Scottsdale, AZ, and the late Barbara Anne Conlin (2014) and Dr. Frederick Conlin, Jr. (2014), and brother-in-law to Frederick’s wife Barbara Crowley Conlin. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. The calling hours will be Sunday (12/8) from 4-6 pm at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. The funeral will be Monday (12/9) 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
