James P. Danalis, 88 passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2023. Born on November 7, 1935 to Peter and Mary (Louvitakis) Danalis, he was a resident of Longmeadow for over 25 years with his family. He previously resided in Agawam and then at Reeds Landing in Springfield Mass. He was employed for most of his life at US Envelope in Springfield as a plant manager before owning and operating a restaurant called Stefano’s on 261 Union St. West Springfield with his son Stephen. Jim committed most of his time to the Greek Orthodox churches in Springfield and East Longmeadow where he served in many capacities including building committee member, treasurer and president. He was also a lifelong tennis enthusiast and an avid reader. Jim was a loving husband to Despina “Tootsie” Danalis who passed away in 2010. He will be missed and celebrated by his surviving family, including: sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Lisa of Charlestown, R.I., Mark and Elaine of East Longmeadow, MA., Stephen and Sherry of North Granby, CT and Jimmy and Vivianne of Cape Coral, FL; Grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Christa Danalis, Scott Danalis, Alissa Danalis and Colin Griswold, Aidan Majane, Colin and Elya Danalis, Cameron and Denise Danalis, and Alexander Danalis; Great-grandchildren, Nora and CJ Griswold. Jim is also survived by his loving companion, Ann Weickert. James will lie-in-state at 9:00am-10:30 on Friday, December 29 at St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church, 400 Prospect St., East Longmeadow, MA. where a funeral service will follow at 10:30am. Arrangements have been entrusted to TOOMEY-O’BRIEN Funeral Home, West Springfield. Burial will follow at a later date.
