Obituary
James F. Flaherty, 75, passed away April 22 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. Born in Springfield, April 24, 1944 he was the son of the late Michael and Bridget (Kennedy) Flaherty. Jim worked as a firefighter in West Springfield for over 30 years retiring in 1999. He was a US Navy veteran during the Vietnam War and a former communicant of St. Thomas Church. He leaves his loving wife, Jan (Canders) Flaherty, His beloved children, Michael N. of Westfield and Megan of VA., his beloved brother, Michael of West Springfield, his loving grandson, Larry Sutton Jr., his sister in law, Mary Flaherty of West Springfield. He was predeceased by his brother, West Springfield Fire Chief John Flaherty. A private burial will be in the Mass Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
