West Springfield- James Raymond Matroni, 71, of Robinson Road passed away Monday at home. He was born in Springfield on August 27th, 1945 to the late James and Eleanor (Tegan) Matroni. He has lived in West Springfield his entire life and was a graduate of Putnam High School in Springfield. He began his career as a printer and later worked at Alstom Printing of Windsor for 30 years as an account manager. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was formerly a communicant of Immaculate conception Church in West Springfield. Jim was a member of both the Dante and Verdi Clubs in West Spfld. He played in both of their bocce leagues for years. He was an avid pool player. He loved the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and New York Yankees. He was the loving husband of 32 years to Marguerite F. (Walsh) Matroni, beloved father of Michael Matroni of West Springfield and Eleanor Roberts and her husband Shane of Somers, CT, devoted grandfather of Isabella and Liam Roberts, and caring brother of Michael Matroni and Ann Marie Witkiewicz and her husband Bob all of Plattsburgh, NY. Jim was predeceased by his two brothers, Raymond and Thomas Matroni. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. There will be a one hour visitation from 10:30-11:30 AM Thursday at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 Noon at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield. There will be a Committal Service at 1 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans� Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. In lieu of flowers donations in Jim�s name may be made to the West Springfield Boys and Girls Club, 615 Main Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
