James W. Smith

James Smith, 78, passed away Thursday, May 11 2023. He was born August 11th, 1944, to the late William and Stella (Prusaczyk) Smith. James worked most of his life as a caretaker and landscaper for residential estates in the Berkshires. He loved the outdoors, sports and telling all the crazy stories of his youth. He was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of West Springfield.
James will be missed by his sons, Barry Smith of Fairfax, Vermont, Michael Smith of Granville, MA and his daughter Cynthia Levasseur of Granville, MA. He also leaves behind 4 beautiful grandchildren, Tanner, Dylan, Tyler, and Fiona.
A special thank you to his former neighbors of Forest Glen Drive that looked after him for many years and to the staff at the Atrium at Cardinal drive where he lived for the last 5 months. Funeral Services will be private. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St. West Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
