Obituary
Janice Mahoney 88, passed away peacefully on January 13th surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on October 29, 1933 to the late Alexander and Alice (Gilbert) Hood. She graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1953. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years Joseph and her children, Donald and his wife Sandi and son Sean of Chicopee, and Joanne and her husband Dan VanKruiningen of Westfield as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her only sibling George as well her infant daughter Theresa. Janice loved spending time with family and friends at the Cape and in Florida. She loved her family and cherished any time spent with them.
She was a wonderful caring wife and mother who will be greatly missed by her family. There will be a Funeral Mass Wednesday 9:30 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. There will be calling preceding the Mass from 8:30-9:15 AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Committal Service at 11 AM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1380 Main Street, Agawam. In lieu of flowers donations in Janice’s memory may be made to the St. Thomas School, 75 Pine Street, West Springfield.
