West Springfield - Janis M Griffin-Thibault, 65, passed away Thursday at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schenectady, NY, May 26, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Lois (Carey) Griffin. Janis was a graduate of St Joseph High School in Pittsfield and received her Bachelor Degree in Education from American International College. She worked as a para-professional at the Fausey and Cowing Schools in West Springfield specializing in special education. She was a former communicant of St Louis de France Church. She leaves her beloved husband, Gilles A. Thibault, her loving children, Christopher M. and Jacqueline M. both of Worcester, her beloved siblings, Richard Griffin of Pittsfield, Patricia Rapkowicz of Knoxville, TN, Susan Rader of Waukesha, WI and the late James Griffin, her loving sister-in-law, Maureen and several nieces and nephews. A funeral home service will be held Thursday 7pm at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield with calling hours from 4pm – 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cowing School, Early Childhood Development Program, 160 Park Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
