Jean M. (Pickett) Francis passed away on December 6 at Mercy Medical Center. She was 79 years old. Born in Springfield on November 27, 1946, she was one of 6 children born to the late Charles and Marie (O’Connor) Pickett. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart HS and lived many years in Springfield before moving to Wilbraham in 1981 with her husband, the late Richard Francis.
Jean was a diligent worker and advanced from a secretarial position to Supervisor of Employment at New England Telephone and also worked for Peter Pan Bus Lines as a Human Resource Director. Due to Richard’s graduation from Dartmouth, she became an enthusiastic supporter of their football team and was involved in the alumni newsletter and events.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was predeceased by her brothers William Pickett of Springfield, Joseph Pickett of Chicopee, and Lawrence Pickett of West Springfield.
She will be missed by her brother Bernard Pickett and his wife Janice of Palm Harbor, FL; sister Marie Talbot and her husband Richard of Springfield; sisters-in-law Rose and Susan Pickett of Springfield and Chicopee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Calling Hour will be 9:30-10:30 on December 15 at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME followed by an 11am Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Jean’s name to the American Lung Association, St. Jude’s Hospital for Children or the TJ O’Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center.
