West Springfield- Jo-Anne G. Walsh passed away on Thursday, March 27; she was 70 years old. Born in Holyoke on December 13, 1954, Jo-Anne’s early childhood was spent in West Springfield and her high school years in Feeding Hills, but she moved back to and considered herself a lifelong resident of West Springfield. She earned degrees in Education and Geography, and went on to a career in education in West Springfield Public Schools and the Springfield Science Museum. She had a lasting commitment to both teaching and learning, not only in school, but in every circumstance in life. She was a bibliophile and loved reading science fiction, fantasy, and had an impressive Stephen King collection. She also enjoyed music, especially jazz and rock and roll, and spending long days at the beach with her family. She will be deeply missed by her loving family: son Matthew Walsh and his wife Ginny, and their children Paul, Lochlan and Lettie Walsh of Franklin, IL; her daughter Jennifer Walsh and her husband Collin Glasow, of Holyoke; her husband Warren, of Holyoke; sisters Janice (Sandford) Levey of Stow, MA, Cathy (Daniel) Brouillette of West Springfield, and Debra (Stephen) Riley of Agawam; and brother Richard Clark of Agawam. Jo-Anne was predeceased by her eldest brother David Raynor. A Memorial Visitation is scheduled for 10-11AM, with a Memorial Service following at 11am on Saturday, April 5 both at West Springfield Covenant Community Church, located at 112 Amostown Rd, West Springfield, MA, 01089.
