Joan Ruth Garbin, 84, of Holy Family Road passed away Saturday at Holyoke Medical Center. She was born in Newport, NH on December 19th, 1933 to the late Roy and Mary (Ricci) Bombard. Joan worked for many years as a social worker for the Holyoke Welfare Department. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in West Springfield. She loved traditional country music and especially loved the live shows and concerts. Joan also enjoyed sewing and collecting dolls. She also enjoyed going out to eat. She was predeceased by her loving husband Remo �Ray� Garbin (2008) and her cherished daughter Joan Cox (2007). She was the beloved mother of Daniel Buckland and his wife Jean of Springfield, Mary Monty of TN, and Harry Buckland of Holyoke, devoted step mother of Marylynn Garbin of Leominster, MA, Marlene Garbin of Springfield, and Randolf Garbin and his wife Louise of PA, and caring sister of Barbara Grimaldi, Paul Dumont, Elaine Quilter, and Neil Dumont all of SC. Joan also leaves her beloved 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. There will be Calling Hours Friday from 8:45 � 9:30 AM at the Bible Baptist Church, 575 Morgan Road, West Springfield. The Church�s Funeral Service will start at 9:30 AM. The Committal Service will follow at 11 AM at the Massachusetts Veterans� Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
