Feeding Hills- Joan (DeMars) Bonnello, 86, of Pleasant Drive passed away on Saturday at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Springfield on August 16, 1936 to the late Rose (Loncrini) and Augustus DeMars. She spent most of her life in Agawam and graduated from Agawam High School Class of 1954. Joan started her career working for the former Union Trust Bank in Springfield and after that she worked in the accounting department of Monsanto. After her retirement she continued to work, first as a lunch monitor at Granger School and later as an usher at the Majestic Theater in West Springfield. She would always tell everybody the best job she ever had was picking apples. She was a longtime and active communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills and she was a member of the St Martha’s Guild there. Prior to that she was a communicant at the former St. Anthony of Padua Church in Agawam. Joan enjoyed her wine and gardening, especially her flowers. She was member of the Sesame Club in Agawam and was very active on the Class of 1954 Reunion Committee at Agawam High School. She was the beloved widow of Ralph H. Bonnello who passed away in 1980, loving mother of Heather M. Taupier and her husband Daniel of Sarasota, FL, devoted grandmother of Brian D. and Alyssa M. and her fiancé Christopher and cherished great grandmother of Keira. She also leaves several cousins. The calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. The funeral will be Friday at 12 noon at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30 pm at Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills. Burial will be at the Springfield Street Cemetery.
