Obituary
Joanne E. Begley, 81, of Janet Street, passed away Tuesday at home. She was born in Springfield to the late Estelle (McKay) and Francis Begley. She spent all of her life in West Springfield and was a graduate of West Springfield High School. She was the former owner of the Crest Room in West Springfield. Prior to that she worked at Mass Mutual and later in the payroll department of Sears and Roebuck Department Store. Joanne was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield. She enjoyed traveling and often visited Ireland. She also loved Bingo and gambling at the casinos. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Arthur “Artie” Ross and her beloved brother Gerald “Jerry” Begley. She was the loving aunt of Gerald Begley and his wife Michelle of Suffield, Darrin Begley and his wife Melanie of Sandwich, and Brenna Ryan and her husband Nolan of West Springfield, cherished sister-in-law to Teresa (Ginty) Begley of West Springfield, devoted great aunt of Cassidy, Ben, Cam, and Ashlyn Begley and Nolan, Brogan, and Macklan Ryan, she also leaves her stepson Steve Ross and his wife Dawn, step grandchildren; Jessica and Ben Washington, Michael Ross, and Luke Ross, step great grandchildren; Silas, Zion, and Elijah Washington, her stepson Jeff Ross and his wife Jen Ross, step grandchildren, Justin and Jenna Ross, her stepson Dan Ross and his wife Dee, step grandchildren; Danyelle Ross and Carl and Anna Ross, step great grandmother of Dhalila, Ryan Ross, Mickala Shepaum, and Ryleigh. There will be a Funeral Mass Monday at 11:30 am at St. Thomas Church followed by a Committal Service at St. Thomas Cemetery. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
