Obituary
John Henry Gerke, Jr., 72, of Amherst Road passed away Monday after a short illness at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on December 9, 1946 to the late Elizabeth (Spinks) and John H. Gerke, Sr. He grew up in Springfield and spent most of his life in Granby and graduated from Technical High School. John worked as the Quality Control Manager at Nortech and C & G Machining for years. He was served in the U.S. Marine Reserves. John loved cooking, especially for family and friends. He was a good friend to all who knew him. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Lois (Zeike) Gerke. He leaves his beloved sister Judy Socha of Springfield and his close friends Karen O’Connor and James Eithier. All services will be Private and Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
