West Springfield- John Louis Gilli, 94, of North Boulevard passed away Sunday at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Agawam. He was born in Springfield on February 17, 1929 to the late Antoinette (Roncalli) and Louis Gilli. He was a barber and owned John’s Barber shop in West Springfield for almost 50 years. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School. John enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. He also loved gardening, and all outdoor activities. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. The family expresses their gratitude for the attentive care and compassion displayed by the professional caregivers at Heritage Hall. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Antonia (Russo) Gilli, loving father of Louis Gilli of West Springfield, Anthony Gilli and his wife Emma of Avon, CT, and Nina Malfas and her husband Gregory of West Springfield, and devoted grandfather of Christina Malfas and Marcus Gilli. There will be calling hours from 3-6 PM on Thursday at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Spfld. The funeral will be Friday 9 AM at the funeral home followed at 10 AM by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Church. Burial at St. Thomas Cemetery.
