Obituary
John Rodriguez, Jr., 59 passed away on November 20, 2021 after battling a debilitating disease the majority of his life with courage and quiet dignity. Originally from Westfield, MA, John resided in Agawam for the last 20 years. He is predeceased by his father, John Rodriguez, his uncle, Walter Swiderski, and his niece, Stefanie Dubuc. John was very active in sports in his youth and possessed a natural talent for most any sport he applied himself to. He served in the Navy after which he joined the fire department in Westfield until his disability interfered with his ability to perform his job. He was diagnosed with a type of psoriatic arthritis which rendered limited mobility and later resulted in loss of eyesight. Although he faced countless challenges, he never complained, enduring countless painful surgeries over the years. He was a fighter, a great storyteller and had a great sense of humor. He was an avid sports enthusiast, phenomenal chess player, and undefeated Seinfeld trivia expert (and could quote great philosophers like Steve Martin). He leaves his daughter, Amberlee, of Boston, his devoted mother and best friend, Jeanette Rodriguez, his sisters, Lorin Fila and Marisa Dubuc, as well as his loving nephews and nieces. Service for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers/cards, please reach out and offer an unsolicited act of kindness for an unfortunate soul in his name. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
