John Paul Kilpatrick of Agawam, MA born May 24, 1954 in Hartford, CT to the late Walter and Christine Kilpatrick, passed away Saturday August 20, 2016 in the evening surrounded by the family he adored. John was many things, a soldier, an artist, a story teller, a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan but above all�else�a husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Hyo S. (Kim) Kilpatrick, his two daughters Julie Dimino and husband Salvatore Dimino of Westfield, MA and Lisa Kilpatrick and husband Daniel Walsh of Westford, MA, his grandchildren Isabella, Lucia, Mia Dimino, and Gabriel Walsh, his two brothers Larry Kilpatrick and wife Jocelyn Kilpatrick of New Britain, CT and David Kilpatrick and Wife Elizabeth Kilpatrick of FL, his sister Jean Struzenski and husband Richard Struzenski of Granby, CT and several nieces and nephews. In life John was an unbelievable man. He served our nation in the US Army. He was a Staff Sergeant who had served in the Old Guard and was a commercial artist. He received many awards and honors from the military for extraordinary service. This is just a part of his legacy which lives on through his family. John was the rarest of men. He wore his heart on his sleeve and at the same time was the pillar of strength that kept his family together. John was a story teller captivating his family with tales from his past and current events. As he ascends the stairway to heaven with trumpets playing and angels calling him home he would want us to remember that he lived life for his family and cherished the moments he had. John touched the life of everyone he encountered leaving an everlasting mark. He will be remembered always. There will be a Funeral Home Service Friday at 2 PM at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield followed at 3 PM by a Committal Service with full Military Honors at the Massachusetts Veterans� Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA.
