John J. Manning, Jr.

John Joseph Manning, Jr. of Feeding Hills, died at his home on January 30, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield on August 16, 1942, he was the son of John and Martha (Thelen) Manning. In 2009, John retired from the Western Massachusetts Electric Co. after 44 years of dedicated service. John loved Sunday dinners with family and antiquing around New England. He especially cherished his family dogs. He also enjoyed mass at Saint Michael�s Cathedral with Mgr. Christopher Connelly and Sister Eileen Sullivan. John will be missed by all who knew him, including his wife of 43 years, Helen (Loncto) and their children, his son, John Joseph and his husband Dennis Hunsicker, his daughter, Martha Margaret and her husband Emery Clifton, and his daughter Mary Claire. John is also survived by his sister, Nancy Fitzgerald and his brother, Joseph Manning, both of New Hampshire. He will be forever remembered as a loyal husband, devoted father, caring brother, and unparalleled co-worker. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 3, at St. Michael�s Cathedral in Springfield with burial to follow at St Thomas Cemetery in West Springfield. Calling hours will be held 4-7 pm Tuesday, February 2 at the Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St. West Springfield.
