Obituary
John Michael Massey, 65, of Lathrop Street passed away Wednesday at home. He was born in Springfield on January 23, 1956 to the late John and Helen Irene (Shea) Massey. He lived most of his life in West Springfield. He worked in the shipping department of the Sullivan Paper Company for years before retiring in 2000. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. John loved cooking, enjoyed camping, and was a sports fanatic. Outside of his family, his greatest treasures in life were all the dogs and cats he owned throughout the years. He was the loving husband of the late Lisa A. Wilson (2010), beloved father of Stephanie Lombard and her husband Todd of Bailey, NC, Courtney Haile of West Springfield, Cassandra Haile of Agawam, Brittany Haile of Vernon, CT, Holly Leary and her husband Daniel of East Longmeadow, and Sean Massey of West Springfield, devoted grandfather of Leah Reopel, Lilly Stronzek, Catherine Leary, Benjamin Leary, and Mason Collazo, caring brother of Ginger Massey and Patricia Versailles both of Barnwell, SC, and the late Michael Massey, cherished brother-in-law to Nick, Kimberly, Jennifer, Kristie Haile, and Cheryl Massey. John also leaves several nieces and nephews. There will be a Committal Service Friday 2:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements. To help defray funeral costs the family asks donations be made to his daughter Holly Leary, 1085 Dickinson Street, Springfield, MA 01108.
