John J. Murphy, Jr.

West Springfield - John J. �Murph� Murphy, Jr, 68, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ludlow, May 29, 1948, the son of the late John J. and Jennie (Mastroianni) Murphy. Murph worked at Costco in West Springfield for over 22 years, retiring as a manager. He was a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church, a very active member of the West Springfield Boys and Girls Club, a member of the Dante Club, a member of the West Springfield Elks Club where he was honored as Irish Elk of the Year in 2001. Murph loved to fish and hunt and was a very generous person with a great sense of humor who was willing to help anyone in need. He leaves his beloved wife of 31 years, Paula (Theriaque) Murphy, his loving children, Jennie Sapowsky and John P. Murphy both of West Springfield, his beloved brother, Thomas of Chicopee and his loving granddaughter, Ella. John was predeceased by his sister, Mary Bronner. Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 4-7PM at the Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield. The service and burial will be private.
