John William Perry passed away Wed. (8/2) and his beloved wife Barbara Anne (Petrlak) Perry passed away Thurs. (8/3), both under the compassionate and loving care of the staff at Mont Marie Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Holyoke.
John was born in Agawam on April 13, 1931 to the late Irene (LaFond) and Charles Perry. He worked at Friendly’s Ice Cream in Wilbraham in various capacities for 38 years. He was a Korean War U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of American Legion. John was a lifelong avid golfer, loved fishing, cribbage, playing pool and yard work.
Barbara was born in Springfield on February 10, 1932 to the late Katherine (Sweeney) and Andrew Petrlak. She worked as a secretary at West Springfield High School for years. She was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Church. She loved reading, knitting, cooking and capturing these memories in thousands of family photos. What they both cherished most in this life was their family, friends and co-workers. Barb and Jack were soul mates to the end and forever! A true life love story, well lived.
As a couple, Jack and Barbara were most happy together cheering on their children in sporting events, gathering with family and vacationing to Aruba, Hawaii or camping at Salisbury Beach and Cape Cod.
In retirement, they spent daily afternoons competing in cribbage, Mexican train and card games.
They will be sadly missed by their loving children; John Perry Jr. and his wife Deborah of Wilbraham, James Perry and his wife Lynn of Westfield, and Brian Perry and his friend Claudia Fagan of Nashua, NH and their son-in-law Richard Paul of Ware.
