John �Jack� Edward Shumway Jr., 66,�passed away Tuesday at�his Springfield home. He was born in Springfield and lived there most of his life. He graduated from Springfield College with his BA and Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling. He first worked for Monson Development Center and later worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor at the Springfield Office for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. He leaves his beloved wife of 36 years Nancy J. (Cook) Shumway, his brother Greg Shumway and sister in law Pauline Shumway, his stepbrother Robert and stepsister Sheila, several nieces and nephews, his uncle Micheal Shumway,�and by his sister in law Judith McDaniel and her husband Andrew. He is predeceased by his mother Netha Avis Grey, his father John Edward Shumway Sr., his grandmother Pearl Bowen,�his step mother Muriel Shumway and her father Benjamin Girshick. He was greatly loved by his in-laws Kermit and Philomenia Cook, their brother Kenneth Cook; as well as his collegues at MassRehab. He will be laid to rest in the Cook family plot at the Timothy Methodist Unity Church Cemetery in Thetford Vt. There will be a Memorial Service scheduled at a later date. Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations in Jack�s name may be made to Dakin Animal Shelter in Springfield, MA. He's gone "way up yonder to be with his Lord."
