Joseph A. Rudy

d. July 5, 2015

Joseph Anthony Rudy passed away peacefully on July 5, 2015 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in West Springfield, MA on April 26, 1960 and was a lifelong resident of West Springfield. Joe leaves behind his devoted wife of 30 years, Brenda (Newbrough) Rudy, his daughters, Kimberly and Annmarie Rudy, his mother, Patricia Burnham and father, Daniel Rudy and wife, Sue Rudy, his father-in-law Raymond Newbrough, along with his siblings, Debra Choiniere, Donna Burnham and husband, David Burnham, and John Rudy and partner, Amy Fiano, and many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his mothers husband Donald Burnham, his mother-in-law, Eleanor Newbrough and by his loyal chocolate lab companion, Cody. Joe was also a beloved brother-in-law and uncle to the Newbrough family. Joe was his family's superman. He and his wife, Brenda, were best friends. Her nearly 40 years of love, patience, and devotion are that of a saint. He was extremely proud of his smart, strong, and beautiful daughters. Joe kept everyone in a 1,000 mile radius up to date with their accomplishments. Joe made friends wherever he went. He was one of a kind and magnetic. Although he was frequently joking with a smirk on his face, Joe was smart as a whip and developed many talents with ease. He was a fearsome competitor who habitually took first place in regional pool and golf tournaments, despite his "high" handicap. Joe lived life with a fire in his eyes. He was always prepared to rock somebody's world, as he said. Joe was a daredevil and lived by the motto, "No Fear." He loved anything with an engine including his custom "BAD JR" Harley and his many, many sports cars. But he loved nothing more than his family and friends, and often a stranger or two who needed a helping hand. Joe's fire still burns we all carry it in his memory. Calling hours for Joe will be Thursday 4-7PM at the TOOMEY-OBRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., W. Spfld. All other services are private.
