West Springfield - Josephine Hermine (Babula) Dutkiewicz, 94, passed away Sunday at Heritage Hall East Nursing Home in Agawam surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Vienna, Austria on September 10, 1922 to the late Heinrich and Rosina (Kopecky) Babula. She lived in West Springfield most of her life. She was a lab worker for Standard Photo and later worked at American Optical both formerly of Springfield. She was the co-owner of Ilene & Josy�s Restaurant formerly of West Springfield and also worked with The Purple Onion Catering for many years. She was a member of the VFW Auxilary and the Ramapogue Women�s Club. Josephine enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family and friends. She was an excellent and accomplished bowler and was an avid card and bingo player. Josephine was a wartime bride and came to America in 1948. She was the beloved widow of Mitchell L. Dutkiewicz, who passed away in 2002, loving mother of Raymond M. Dutkiewicz and his wife Joan of Sarasota, FL and Linda S. Mattson of Agawam, devoted grandmother and great-grandmother of Michael Dutkiewicz, and his wife Shannon, their daughter Skylar, Michelle Balot, and her husband David, their children Ashley, Taylor, Bryce, and Alexis, Kari Beachy, and her husband David, their children Jaiden and David Jr., Kacy DeLoach, and her husband David, their children Kaylee and David III, all of Sarasota, FL Jaime Smith and her husband Brian, their children Ian, Hailey, Payton, and Amelia, Robin Sayward and her husband Jason, their children, Jagger, Malyn and Jase, all of West Springfield, and caring sister of Camilla of Austria. Josephine also leaves a sister-in-law Edith Dutkiewicz, her "adopted daughter" Rita Auchy and friend Ilene Matteson. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Paula and Charlotte, of Vienna, Austria. The funeral will be 9AM Friday at TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street. Burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine�s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
