Obituary
Joyce A. (Balboni) Polastri, 89, passed away Mon. Oct. 12, 2020 in Baystate Medical Center. She was born April 16, 1931 to the late Carlo and Rose Balboni. She graduated from Lauralton Hall. Joyce was the organist at the former St. Anthony’s Church in Agawam for many years. She also worked at the Springfield Paper (Springfield Republican) and her family’s bakery, Balboni Bakery in Agawam. Joyce enjoyed traveling, cooking (watching Guy Fieri shows) and going out to dinner. She also enjoyed sitting out on her patio watching anything involving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony’s Church in Agawam and would pray her rosary every day. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Emil Joseph Polastri on Sept 30, 1991. She leaves her loving children; Lita Biske and her husband Gary of East Hartford, CT., Carl Polastri and his wife Barbara of W. Springfield, and Paula Randi and her husband Giorgio of Italy, her grandchildren; Sara Polastri, Joseph Pessimato and Alecia Bailey, her great grandchildren; Raiden Durkee, Caleb Lepage, Nathan Lepage and Jase Bailey, her brothers Kenneth Balboni and his wife Mae of W. Springfield, and Martin Balboni and his wife Gail also of W. Springfield., along with several nieces and nephews. Joyce was also predeceased by her older brother Ronald Balboni. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held WEDS 10 AM in St. Thomas Church, Pine St., W. Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. There are NO Calling Hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation or to the American Diabetes Foundation. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
