Obituary
Katherine “Katy” (Burke) Pendleton, 77, received her Angel Wings June 4, 2022, in the comfort of her home. Born in Greenfield, June 2, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Geraldine (Melanson) Burke. Katy attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School. She worked as a beauty consultant for Sears, Steigers and GFox for many years. She moved to West Springfield after marrying her brother’s best friend and the love of her life, Lindsay Pendleton, who died in 2009. Katy battled breast cancer with determination and poise and never complained. Katy’s passion was volunteering at the Cancer House of Hope in Westfield and West Springfield where her caring personality made her a natural at helping others through cancer treatment. Her family would like to thank Dr. Phillip Glynn and the entire staff at the Sister Caritas Center at Mercy Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion. In the last few weeks, the assistance of Trinity Hospice Staff, Silver Lining Homecare, and Katy’s neighbor, Deb Pietras, have been an enormous help. She leaves her beloved siblings, James and Jack Burke (Jaime) and Jane Burke-Mooney (Joe) along with 2 nieces, Kate and Christine Mooney, and 2 nephews, Bodie and Casey Burke. Katy also leaves her devoted friends and caretakers Dianne Fontana and Deb Canedy. A Funeral Home Service will be held 2 PM Saturday at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield. Donations in Katy’s memory can be made to the Cancer House of Hope or the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Shelter.
