Kathleen B. (Quinn) Melvin, 91, passed away on January 4, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She was born on the family farm in Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland on May 15, 1931 to the late Thomas and Catherine (Begley) Quinn. Kathy moved to America in 1953 where she met the love of her life, James. They married in 1957 and settled in West Springfield in 1963 to raise their family. As her children grew, Kathy re-entered the work force selling service agreements for Sears & Roebuck. Kathy loved spending time with friends and family by going out to dinner (and more recently getting take-out). She loved family vacations and in her retirement traveled to Ireland, North Carolina’s Outer Banks, Orlando, Florida, Rome and Cape Cod to celebrate various events with her husband, children and grandchildren. Kathy never met a shopping mall she didn't like. She enjoyed dressing stylishly and spent many hours happily perusing the clearance racks at various shops and malls. “…but more, much more than this”, Kathy, like Frank Sinatra, wanted to do things "her way".
Kathy leaves her loving husband James B. Melvin, and her loving children; Kathleen Haddock and her husband John of Orlando, FL, Elizabeth Steubing and her husband Kurt of Hopewell Junction, NY, Maura Vigliano and her partner Mike Mitchell of W.
