Kathryn Ann (Griffin) Dufraine

Kathryn (Kathy) A. (Griffin) Dufraine, 86, lately of Somers, CT, passed away on December 14, 2024. Kathryn is survived by her seven children and their spouses; Michael F. Dufraine, (Susan Dufraine); Ann E. Griffin (John Gregory); Mary Alice Raymond, (Scott Raymond); James R. Dufraine, (Teresa Dufraine); Patrick L. Dufraine, (Roberta Dufraine); Paul J. Dufraine, (Karen Dufraine); and Sheila J. Popovich, (Phillip Popovich). She is survived by her sister Mary Riordan; 14 Grandchildren; and several great-grand children. Kathy was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. Dufraine (2004), her sister Jane Griffin, and her parents James and Helen Griffin. Kathy grew up in West Springfield, MA, attending local parochial schools. She earned her Teaching degree at Westfield State College. She was a lifetime parochial school teacher, starting at St. Mary's in Westfield, MA. She then held a teaching position at Holy Name School in Springfield, MA, ending her teaching career at St. Michael's in Springfield, MA. She lent her time and talents to the early and after hours care at Holy Name, including baking cupcakes with the children and earning her Life Guard Certificate so the children could use the pool after school hours. It would be safe to say that her world revolved around children. Kathy's interests included sewing, crocheting, furniture refinishing, reupholstering, and chair caning. She had a life-long love of animals. Kathy’s family expresses their appreciation to the staff at The Atrium at Cardinal Drive for their care and kindnesses. Services have been entrusted to Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home in West Springfield. A Mass will be held for Kathy at St. Thomas Church in West Springfield, MA on Monday, December 23 at 10AM.
