Kathryn Ann O’Brien was called to Eternal Life on 4/17/24 at home, surrounded by her family, after over 16 years battling cancer. Kathy touched the lives of many and was loved by everyone she met, including her extensive family, many close friends, and co-workers. Kathy was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, where she taught CCD for many years. She retired from Big Y Corporate Office after over 40 years of employment. Kathy’s favorite hobbies were vacationing on Cape Cod with family, singing, dancing and retail therapy.
Kathy was the daughter of the late John and Theresa Lane. She is one of seven siblings and leaves behind her brothers, Jay Lane (Mary Lou), Jim Lane (Becky), Michael Lane (Jean) and Edward Lane (Ali), as well as, her sister Diana Lane. She is predeceased by her sister Maryann Lane.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Paul O’Brien Jr and their four children, Kimberlie Adams (Jon), Matthew O’Brien (Amy), Colleen Goodreau (Jim) and Kathleen O’Brien (Frank). She will be greatly missed by the joys of her life; her eleven grandchildren: Connor, Sadie, Nolan, Penelope, Viola, Theodore, Alexis, Frankie, Antonio, London, and Liam.
She is also survived by many in-laws, Ya-ya’s, nieces, nephews, and friends whose company she was always grateful for and more than happy to host for a dip in the pool. Friends and family are invited to Kathy’s Funeral Mass on Monday April 22, 2024, at 10AM at St Thomas Church 47 Pine St West Springfield with burial to follow at Agawam Center Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday April 21, 2024, from 1-4PM at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield.
