West Springfield � Kenneth A. Rzasa, 66, passed away, February 3, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer, at Life Care Center of Wilbraham. He was born October 26, 1949 in Springfield, the son of the late Frederick and Lena (Mscisz) Rzasa. He was a lifelong resident of West Springfield, graduating from West Springfield High School in 1968, Springfield Technical Community College in 1970 and attended Western New England University. Ken is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Marcia (Padykula) Rzasa and his daughter, Kristine Rzasa of Falmouth and his sister, Shirley Rzasa of Needham. His passion in life was his career as a Commercial Architect and as a proprietor of a General Contracting company. Ken began working as an Engineering Detailer for Art Cement Products, Inc. of Wilbraham in the early 70�s. Then a Design Engineer for the Edward J. O�Leary, Co., Inc. of Southampton, followed by a Project Superintendent position for the Forish Construction Co. in Westfield. In the 80�s Ken became President and CEO of the former RAM Structures Inc. of Easthampton. Finally, Ken began his own design/build firm, KALMAR Construction, Inc. of W. Springfield, specializing in both metal building systems and conventional buildings. Ken designed and built many buildings in the Western Mass area. He hired many subcontractors that became associates and longtime friends. Ken was an avid golfer and enjoyed boating and the family�s beach house in Hyannisport. Ken loved English Springer Spaniels and will be greatly missed by �Reggie� his third Springer. As a great sports fan, all Boston teams were fully supported by Ken, especially the Red Sox. But most of all Ken loved his family and enjoyed every opportunity to be with them, giving them support, advice, laughter and encouragement. As husband and father Ken was very proud to enjoy Mary and Kristine�s accomplishments and triumphs. We will all miss his sense of humor, laughter and his amazing way of connecting with people. That spirit will forever be remembered. The funeral will be Saturday 10AM from the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., followed by an 11AM Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7PM at the funeral home.
