Lana Marie (Kolonoski) D’Benedetto, 73, of Holyoke passed away peacefully the morning of Easter Sunday with her daughter by her side at Holyoke Medical Center. She was born in Springfield on December 26, 1949 to the late Priscilla (Davis) and Stanley Kolonoski. She graduated high school in 1967 from Our Lady of the Angels in Enfield, and later in life returned to nursing school and went on to work as a geriatric psych nurse for 28 years. Lana was strong willed and independent. She was well known for having her makeup perfectly done and every hair in place. She liked hard rock music and was big fan of Billy Idol. She loved fast cars especially her G.T.O. and Trans Am. But what Lana enjoyed most in her life was being a nurse and helping people. She was the loving mother of Gregg of Brandon, FL, Christine of Oceanside, CA, and Kyle Marie of South Hadley, beloved grandmother of 2 and great grandmother of 6. She was predeceased her siblings; Linda Camp, Lois Lachtara, and Stanley Kolonski. The family would like to thank Karina for all the love and care she gave Lana in her last days. There will be a calling hour Friday from 10-11 am at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 11 am. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Lana’s name may be made to the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy, 2 Prospect Hill Road, Stockbridge, MA 01262.
