Leona Yvonne (Burt) Crawford, 60, of Kelso Avenue passed away Wednesday at home. She was born in Lunenburg, VT on June 13th, 1959 to the late Allen and Yvonne (Roy) Burt. She grew in Lunenburg, VT and settled in West Springfield in 1980. Leona worked at the Stop and Shop in West Springfield for 24 years. She had a full life and enjoyed knitting, gardening, and the movies. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was the beloved wife of James E. Crawford Sr., loving mother of Nickolas A. Crawford and his wife Theresa of Fayetteville, NC and James E. Crawford and his wife Sarah of Maryborough, Queensland, Australia, devoted grandmother of Madison and Betty Crawford and Aurora and Ethan Crawford, caring sister of David Burt and his wife Caroline, Donald Burt and his wife Kunja, Harvey Henderson and wife Janice, Burton Burt, Gordon Burt and his wife Tammy, Dean Burt, Jane Richardson and her husband Jeffery, Barbara Walker and her husband Armond, and sister-in-law of Robert Valentine. Leona was predeceased by her brother Allen Burt Jr. and her sister Cindy Valentine. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. The calling hours will be Sunday from 4-6 PM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Funeral Home Service Monday at 11 AM followed by a burial at Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield. In lieu of flowers donations in Leona’s name may be made to Beacon Hospice, 815 Worcester Street, Springfield, MA 01151 or to the Baystate Regional Cancer Program, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
